From Project Manager Todd Nash:
During the past month, water services were relocated, and side road tie-ins were made between Firetower Road and Cherry Branch Road. Gas line installation has progressed down to the St. George Road area. Numerous new wood utility poles have been installed up to near Fairview Road.
Road grading activities have been started in several areas from Firetower Road down to near Lakeview Road. Activities range from stripping and stockpiling topsoil to excavation of cuts and placement of material in fills. Clearing of trees is complete and final cleanup of the stumps and logs will be complete in the next few days. The box culvert near the beginning of the project has been started and phase I is near completion.
What to expect in July:
Storm drainage structures are being delivered along with the storm drain pipe and installation will begin. Road grading activities will continue and onsite material will be moved from cut areas to fill areas. Borrow will be brought to the project as well to make fills in other locations. Gas crews will be making a bore under Peavine at Firetower Road and testing of the line will be made up to near the western leg of Stone Loop. Once testing is completed, a tie-in will be made to the existing line and new services will be made. The old line will be taken out of service. Electric crews will continue to install poles down to Towne Center and conductor will be hung on poles installed in the first mile.
Please check the website often as we will post information concerning scheduled operations that will impact traffic and cause delays. Also take note of the message boards throughout the project as they will be programmed to give traffic information during the scheduled operations. We continue to ask that drivers exercise caution when traveling through the project and use reduced speed for our safety as well as yours. Thanks.
